Description

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain the Game Design Document (GDD): develop and support detailed project documentation, including high-level vision, design pillars, and technical tasks for programmers, artists, and other specialists.
  • Design game mechanics: develop and detail core gameplay and meta-gameplay, create and enhance mathematical models, progression systems, economy, perks/abilities, and balance.
  • Refine and decompose the narrative: create the structure of main and side quests, dialogue branches, multiple outcomes, and character interaction logic.
  • Integrate systems: set up relationships between narrative events and game functions (triggers, variables, flags, game conditions, and consequences of player choices).
  • Level and environment design from a narrative perspective: create location structures, pacing of episodes, placement of narrative elements (interactive objects, environmental storytelling), and ensure a logical flow of the story through space.
  • Develop interaction systems: design mechanics for dialogues, player choices, reputation, relationships with NPCs, and their impact on the world and story.
  • Balance and polish: regularly analyze and adjust difficulty, pacing, risk/reward, and eliminate imbalance between gameplay and narrative.
  • Participate in playtests and iterations: analyze feedback from testers, gather gameplay metrics, and make adjustments to mechanics and content structure based on data and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the team: participate in brainstorming sessions, regular reviews with narrative designers, programmers, and artists to ensure a cohesive gaming experience.
  • Support the overall vision of the game: assist in defining and maintaining key features, limiting scope, and prioritizing features at different stages of development.

Conditions
